About the Role and You
Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Start Date: September 2026 (or earlier by agreement)
As Director of Sport, you will provide strategic leadership and direction for sport across the whole school. You will lead both academic and co-curricular provision, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive, and aspirational sporting program.
You will also take responsibility for the delivery and development of Academic Physical Education and BTEC Sport at Key Stages 4 and 5, ensuring strong pupil outcomes and engagement.
This role requires a confident leader who can inspire staff and pupils alike, while driving continuous improvement and innovation across all aspects of sport.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a clear vision for sport across Pre-Prep, Prep, and Senior School
- Lead and manage the delivery of Academic PE and BTEC Sport at KS4 and KS5
- Oversee a broad and inclusive co-curricular sports program
- Provide strategic leadership of Lucton’s specialist academies (Football, Swimming, Tennis, Equestrian)
- Lead fixtures, competitions, and major sporting events
- Drive participation, performance, and pupil wellbeing through sport
- Lead and develop the PE and sports staff team
- Manage sports facilities, resources, and budget effectively
- Build strong partnerships with external clubs and organisations
We are looking for an individual who:
- Holds a degree in Sport, Physical Education, or a related field, alongside QTS (or equivalent)
- Has experience teaching Academic PE and/or BTEC Sport at KS4 and KS5
- Demonstrates strong leadership experience within a school sports environment
- Can inspire, motivate, and lead both pupils and staff
- Has excellent organisational, communication, and strategic thinking skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
Desirable experience includes:
- Teaching a second subject
- Developing elite sports pathways or academies
- Coaching qualifications
- Experience organising fixtures and large-scale sporting events
