Lucton School’s Performance Swimming Programme, in partnership with Typhoon Aquatics, offers an elite training environment where talent meets opportunity. From rising stars to national champions, we create the perfect conditions for swimmers to thrive.
At the heart of our programme is a state-of-the-art, 4-lane indoor heated swimming pool, officially opened by the Duke of Wessex. Located next to the senior boarding house, this facility provides year-round access for training and competitions.
What to Expect on Our Programme?
- Elite Training & Coaching
- 24.5 hours per week of in-water training
- 50m long-course training at elite venues like Cardiff International Pool
- Underwater video analysis for technical refinement
- Bespoke training plans tailored to each swimmer’s age, stroke, and goals
- Strength & conditioning sessions (5 hours per week)
- Academic Excellence You Can Rely On
Led by Head Coach Mr Patrick Blake, a former elite swimmer and national-level coach, our programme follows the British Swimming Optimal Athlete Development Framework, ensuring a holistic, ethical, and effective training approach.
Academic & Athletic Balance
At Lucton, we prioritise both academic success and athletic excellence. Swimmers benefit from:
- A seamless integration of school and training schedules
- Close collaboration between coaching and academic staff
- High academic achievement, with many students progressing to top sports universities, including Bath and Loughborough
Scholarships for Competitive Swimmers
We offer a transparent scholarship programme for swimmers who have competed at County, Regional, or National levels including:
- County Swimmers – 20% Scholarship
- Regional Swimmers – 25% Scholarship
- National Swimmers – 30% Scholarship
- National Swimmers (Sixth Form) – 50%+ Scholarship
Pathway to American University Swimming
For students aspiring to compete at the collegiate level in the USA, we provide:
- Expert guidance on NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA eligibility
- Athlete profiling and scholarship application support
- Direct connections with university recruiters
