Athletics & Cross Country

Athletics

Lucton hosts two Sports Days in the summer term for Pre-Prep and Prep, and Middle School through to Sixth Form.

Lucton’s membership to the ISA provides pupils from Years 4-13 with a full programme of regional and national competitions; many of these being held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham. This is particularly exciting for students as they enjoy the remarkable experience of performing in an arena that they have seen many times on television and where many of their role models have also competed.

Cross Country

Lucton is set within 55 acres of countryside, including a mixture of fields and woodland, therefore it may not be surprising to learn that we are keen on cross country running! In 2008, to celebrate our 300th anniversary, we introduced our annual Tercentenary Cross-Country Championships. The event regularly attracts over 600 students from local schools, both independent and state, and whilst competition is fierce, we are proud to be current overall champions. Many of our runners also compete in the ISA Nationals every year and we were English schools finalists in 2020. Cross Country is very much a whole-school activity and therefore there are many opportunities for students to compete at almost all ages and levels of ability.
