School Life

Lucton provides an exciting setting for young people to flourish academically and socially. Our dedicated and enthusiastic teachers are committed to bringing out the full potential of each pupil, whether in the class, on the sports field, in music, drama or through the many extra-curricular activities on offer.

Small classes, a family atmosphere and a boarding house at the heart of the school, all combine to create a warm and homely place in which pupils feel accepted, valued and secure.

A desire to bring out the very best in each individual pupil means that every student is recognised for their abilities and strengths whilst also supporting them in any difficulties they may have. Lucton is a nurturing and caring environment – something which is frequently noted by visitors and substantiated by current boarders and day pupils. Lucton School is a very open and all-embracing environment and new students immediately feel part of the community and are warmly welcomed and included.

News from School Cottage

We were recently very pleased to receive the kind offer of a supply of wall stickers for School Cottage, from Shop Aardvark as part of their Community Outreach programme, to help to support the school. The porthole images ( http://www.iconwallstickers.co.uk/childrens-wall-stickers/porthole ) really caught our imagination, and the youngest boarders enjoyed helping the Houseparents select five, from the wide range available, one for each bathroom in the Cottage.

Once the package arrived, we had a lively debate about which design should go in which room; as each vibrant new sticker was unrolled from the tube, opinions on favourites changed and the excitement levels rose! Now they are in place, the wall art looks fantastic, with the bright colours completely transforming the small rooms, hugely enhancing the child-friendly nature of the Junior boarding house. Thank you, Shop Aardvark!
