Equestrian Assistant

About the Position

Contract Type: Part – time, permanent

Working Hours: 0.80 FTE, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, rotation of days including weekends. One fixed day off and every other weekend.

Salary: Dependent on experience

Start Date: August 2025

 

You will be based in the yard carrying out all of the stable duties and turning horses out to a high standard for lessons.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Instructing students in various aspects of horsemanship and horse care.
  • Organise and lead practical sessions, helping to enhance pupils equestrian skills.
  • Promote safety awareness amongst pupils, ensuring that all health and safety measures are followed.
  • Provide practical demonstrations.

About You : We are looking for someone who has:

  • A minimum of a BHS Stage 2 or equivalent, or ideally BHS Stage 3 or Level 3 in Equine Management, or equal yard experience.
  • The ability to use their initiative.
  • Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • The ability to work well as part of a team and individually.
  • We are also looking for someone who is:
  • A competent rider
  • Able to handle a variety of horses in a safe manner

Desirable Skills: we are looking for someone who:

  • Can lunge
  • Can bandage
  • Can clip/trim/pull
  • Able to diagnose simple ailments, eg abscesses, colic, laminitis

As our Maintenance Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth running and maintenance of our school’s facilities. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will contribute to creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors.

You will take pride in maintaining our school, from day-to-day repairs to painting and decorating, to completing risk assessments, carrying out security procedures, checking equipment etc.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular inspections of the school estate to identify and address maintenance needs, including repairs, carpentry, painting and decorating and general upkeep.
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety standards are met and adhered to.

About You : We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance or caretaking roles.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Basic handyman, carpentry, painting and decorating skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy objects.
  • The ability to be quality-focused, efficient, able to work at pace, and highly motivated.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver/Teach a dynamic MFL curriculum with a focus on Spanish
  • Teach Spanish across KS3–KS5 with engaging and high-quality lessons
  • Oversee MFL entries in local and national language competitions
  • Use data to track progress, raise attainment, and inform planning
  • Promote MFL through clubs, trips, and wider co-curricular activities
  • Support whole-school literacy and numeracy initiatives
  • Collaborate with marketing and admissions to enhance student recruitment

The ideal candidate should:

  • A QTS with a relevant qualification in Spanish or French or Drama. PGCE is an advantage.
  • Be able to teach GCSE and A-Level
  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner and a leader.
  • Have the energy, passion, and drive to raise standards.
  • Have initiative, vision, excellent planning, and organisational skills.
  • Have experience of working with students with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of developments in education.

As our Minibus Driver, you will be responsible for:

  • Safely operating the school 16-seater minibus, keeping accurate records of daily mileage and fuel consumption.
  • Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections of the minibus, reporting any maintenance or repair needs and carrying out daily and weekly vehicle checks.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a valid Category D1 driving licence.
  • Has a CPC qualification (desirable).
