We are looking for an experienced Equestrian Assistant to join our school in Herefordshire!

About the Position
Contract Type: Part – time, permanent
Working Hours: 0.80 FTE, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, rotation of days including weekends. One fixed day off and every other weekend.
Salary: Dependent on experience
Start Date: August 2025
You will be based in the yard carrying out all of the stable duties and turning horses out to a high standard for lessons.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Instructing students in various aspects of horsemanship and horse care.
- Organise and lead practical sessions, helping to enhance pupils equestrian skills.
- Promote safety awareness amongst pupils, ensuring that all health and safety measures are followed.
- Provide practical demonstrations.
About You : We are looking for someone who has:
- A minimum of a BHS Stage 2 or equivalent, or ideally BHS Stage 3 or Level 3 in Equine Management, or equal yard experience.
- The ability to use their initiative.
- Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- The ability to work well as part of a team and individually.
- We are also looking for someone who is:
- A competent rider
- Able to handle a variety of horses in a safe manner
Desirable Skills: we are looking for someone who:
- Can lunge
- Can bandage
- Can clip/trim/pull
- Able to diagnose simple ailments, eg abscesses, colic, laminitis
