Kickstart Scheme Jobs

We are delighted to be able to advertise 15 jobs under the Governments Kickstart Scheme. This will offer young people aged 16 to 24 years old who are currently claiming Universal Credit the opportunity to apply for a six-month job in a range of roles within our School.

Not only will this opportunity give applicants the chance for paid work experience, but we will support them to develop transferable skills to take into future employment, provide daily mentoring from our staff, training in the job role secured, careers advice and guidance, training on how to apply, and interview, for jobs, as well as provide each successful candidate with their own equipment and uniform (where applicable) to undertake the role, as well as lunch during their working day.

Kickstart Jobs at Lucton School

Administration Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours between 09:00-17:00

The Administration Assistant will assist the admin support team with routine office tasks
They will do filing, photocopying and distributing post
They will assist with placing orders for supplies and equipment
They will use IT to produce word-processed documents
They will undertake reception duties answering the telephone and dealing with routine enquiries
They will assist to maintain and update manual and computerised records
They will assist with dealing with and disposal of confidential information
They will carry out basic administrative tasks to support admin support staff and teachers
To offer assistance in the uniform shop, keeping it tidy and in order
The Administration Assistant will be expected to perform ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the school management team.

Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff have their own desk and computer.

 

Assistant to the Finance Manager

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday 09.30-15.00

The Finance Assistant reports directly to the Finance Manager.
They will assist with the day-to-day operation of the finance department.
They will undertake general administration duties such as filing, copying and data entry.
They must adhere to & comply with Lucton School working practices and procedures at all times.
The Finance Assistant will be expected to perform ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager (Finance Manager) and other members of the school management team.
Lucton School is a thriving, co-educational, independent day and boarding school set within the idyllic Herefordshire countryside, welcoming students from 6 months to 18 years.
It is a traditional school with a friendly atmosphere and an idyllic rural location. The school provides an excellent all-round education for its pupils.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff have their own desk and computer.

Boarding Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday 16:30-22:00

The Boarding Assistant will assist the boarding team with supervising the boarding house(s).
They will offer outstanding pastoral care to students.
They will support house activities such as games, quizzes, sports.
They will supervise students ‘Prep’ time (self-study).
They will, on occasion, supervise off-site trips for example bowling, cinema, zoos, museums.
They will assist with airport drop off/ collection of students at the beginning and end of term.
They will assist with room checks/wake-ups when cover requires.
They will assist with half-term and holiday activities, as instructed by the Head of Boarding.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the management team.

Supper is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff have access to a desk and computer.
Staff will be given a uniform for practical activities.

Domestic Cleaning Assistant

25 hours per week

2 Posts

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours between 09:00-17:00

Monday – Friday Fixed Hours 16.30-20.00

The Domestic Assistant will assist to keep areas of the school clean to a safe and hygienic standard, using appropriate materials and equipment.
They will maintain high standards of cleanliness and tidiness including, vacuuming, mopping, emptying of litter bins, cleaning of work surfaces and carpets, high/low dusting and wiping and also cleaning of low windows/doors.
They will maintain and clean equipment after each use.
They will keep the storeroom tidy and free from obstacles.
They will report any problems with buildings/rooms as they arise.
They will assist in the laundry for our residential boarding pupils.
They will undertake other ad-hoc duties as directed by their line manager and others members of the management team.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff will be given their own uniform and personal protective equipment.

Equestrian Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours

The Equestrian Assistant will assist with the existing equestrian staff team.
They will assist with the care of horses.
They will provide support for, and assist with, daily stable tasks.
They will assist with feeding the horses.
They will assist with basic administration tasks.
They will undertake mucking-out duties.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the management team.

 

Grounds and Maintenance Assistant

25 hours per week

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – Fixed hours: 08:30 – 17:30

The Grounds and Maintenance Assistant will assist with the planned general building maintenance programme.
They will assist with the renovation of both new build and existing (historical) buildings
they will provide support for, and assist with, daily fast response maintenance issues.
They will assist with the preparation of the school site for all calendar events for example the Christmas Fair.
They will assist with any new construction/ improvement projects.
They will undertake general maintenance work to school estate grounds.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the management team.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff will be given a Lucton staff uniform and personal protective clothing for the role including as minimum outdoor boots and gloves.

IT Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours

The IT Assistant will assist with the existing IT team.
They will help to deal with IT queries and issues.
They will provide support for, and assist with, daily IT maintenance.
They will assist with asset tagging all IT equipment.
They will assist with basic administration tasks.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the management team.

Lifeguard & Sports Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours between 09:00-17:00

The Lifeguard and Sports Assistant will supervise the use of our indoor heated swimming pool.
They will complete a lifeguard qualification and undertake monthly refresher sessions (funded by Kickstart).
They will act as lifeguard for our curriculum for swimming lessons.
They will act as a lifeguard for ac-hoc sessions as booked for private or commercial hire.
They will assist with sports activities for Lucton pupils.
They will contribute to the half-term activity programme.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line Manager and other members of the management team.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff will be provided with Lucton School sports uniform.

Marketing & Admissions Assistant

25 hours per week

Monday – Friday Flexible Hours

The Marketing Assistant will assist with the marketing of Lucton School.
Collaborating with the admissions and marketing team
Creating marketing materials for print and digital.
Contribute to maintaining a marketing database.
Providing administrative support to the marketing and admissions team.
Preparing, formatting and editing a range of documents.
General office duties.
Conducting market research.
Creating content for social media.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff have their own desk and computer.

Nursery Support Assistant

25 hours per week

2 posts 3 days a week

Monday – Wednesday OR Wednesday – Friday – 08:00 – 17:15 

The Nursery Assistant will support the current nursery staff to provide outstanding care for babies and toddlers in our nursery (aged 6 months to 4)
They will safeguard children and report any concerns to the relevant staff
They will assist with running fun and safe activities for children
They will show care and attention to all children
They will assist with some kitchen duties e.g. washing up, making sandwiches, cutting fruit.
They will contribute to ad-hoc cleaning duties.
They will be expected to perform other ad-hoc duties as and when required by their line manager and other members of the management team.

Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff will be provided with a uniform.

Prep School Receptionist

25 hours per week

2 posts 3 days a week

Monday – Wednesday OR Wednesday – Friday – 08:00 – 17:15 

The Receptionist will be the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors to the Prep School.
They will welcome all visitors to the Prep school with a friendly manner.
They will receive all telephone calls and forward them as appropriate.
They will ensure school communication (emails and letters) and sent in a timely manner.
They will support teachers in the preparation of resources by assisting to photocopy and scan.
They will support the Head of Prep School in day-to-day tasks.
They will undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Lunch is provided for all staff on-site, as well as access to tea & coffee throughout the day.
Staff have their own desk and computer.
