Forest School, Lucton School

Forest School

With a wealth of countryside on our doorstep, we would be foolish not to use it. Along with local walks we use our wood as an outside classroom for Nursery to Year 5. In fact, our CCF also uses it for training and the cross-country runs take place around it.

We use Forest School in a number of ways. For Nursery, it is a means of learning about the outdoors and for encouraging imaginative play.

As the children progress through the school, art and DT play a part with the children perhaps painting with mud, creating colour collages and even attempting wattle and daub.

Of course dens, whittling and camp-fires are also part of Forest School as well as team-building games and trust games.

It is an extension of the rest of the school and our curriculum, ensuring that the children are self-confident, happy individuals.
