Lucton School EYFS setting gained "Outstanding" in all four categories in 2012.

Lucton EYFS setting (Nursery and Reception) and the Pre Prep, offer boys and girls the very best start on their individual journey of learning and discovery. We make certain that every child develops solid foundations on which they can build, ensuring that they will continue to flourish throughout their school years and beyond.

From the Baby Room, children progress through to Little Ladybirds, on to Transition before joining Reception in the year they turn 5. At all times, the staff aim to foster positive behaviour in pupils, showing them care and encouragement, in order to create a happy, hard-working environment, in which each individual is valued and their unique potential is promoted. The curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage and, with the added flexibility of being an independent school, we are able to extend and enrich the children’s education and experience still further. An example of this is our Forest School where the children use our wood to explore, stimulate their imagination and generally enjoy getting muddy and messy!

ballet classesOnce in Reception, in addition to the Early Years Curriculum, the children enjoy French, ICT, music, Forest School and swimming; the latter is an all-year-round activity in our wonderful indoor heated swimming pool. Children in Reception are taken on visits to local places of interest to supplement a topic they are covering. The children also participate in a busy schedule of school events including sports days, music concerts and plays, book weeks, charity days, Christmas concerts and themed days.

As part of the Prep School, the children mingle across all the age range. It is wonderful to see the older children playing and helping the younger ones. This means that all of the children in the Prep School know one another by name all the way through the Prep School.

We were thrilled to be awarded Outstanding in all areas at our ISI Inspection of our Early Years setting in February 2012.
