Inspection Reports
Ofsted Boarding Inspection
The latest Ofsted Boarding Inspection took place in March 2010. Every aspect of the school's boarding provision was classified as either good or outstanding. The following is from the report's summary: "The boarding provision at the school is providing the pupils with a safe environment that is helping promote their social, educational and cultural needs. The school meets all of the standards and is outstanding in the promotion of equality and diversity. The leadership and management of the school is good and offers effective support to boarders and boarding house staff."

Independent Schools Inspection
Lucton's most recent ISI inspection took place early
in 2008. The report makes very good reading and the governors
and leadership of the school were highly praised. Headmistress,
Mrs Gill Thorne, was described as providing “Strong,
clear leadership”, which, “with
the governors, has expanded and extended the school since
the last inspection; most of that change has been within the
last four years, since her appointment. The success of these
changes is reflected in the school’s educational provision,
particularly the successful introduction of the sixth form
and the completion of an ambitious building programme, as
well as the high quality of pastoral care, and the fulfilment
of the school’s aims and ethos.”
As you can see from the above quote, this inspection report
echoes the tone of the two excellent boarding inspections
the school has undergone in the last four years. Lucton has
fulfilled all statutory requirements in every aspect of the
school and the very few areas where further improvement could
be achieved, including extension work for the gifted, were
already part of our action plans for the school’s continuous
development.
Mrs Thorne commented “This report is a tremendous recognition
of the excellent calibre of staff and governors at Lucton”.
The pupils also come in for a lot of praise and Mrs Thorne
particularly liked the following quotes: “The
behaviour of pupils around the school is consistently good.” and “In class they are co-operative;
around the school they communicate easily and are courteous,
holding doors open and answering questions politely.” Well done, to everyone!
