There
are hundreds of former pupils and staff who stay in touch with
their old school through the Old Luctonians Association
Contact
may be made via the school, or directly with the association
secretary, Harry Paske. E-mail: harrypaske@gmail.com
The
object of the OLA is to enable members to maintain contact with
the School and with one another. Leavers are immediately added
to the address list, and in order to encourage membership of
the association, no subscription (at present £15 yearly)
is payable until the age of 18.
At
present we have 978 members of whom 62 live abroad in places
as distant as Alaska, Japan, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.
Our oldest member, Ben Fickling CBE FRCS, is well into his nineties
– he visited the School on his ninetieth birthday and
climbed up to the Sixth Form Centre on the top floor without
assistance. Ben arrived at Lucton in 1917 after a zeppelin destroyed
his school in London. If he should attend our November Reunion
he would certainly win the regular prize of malt whisky for
the pupil who attended Lucton the earliest. Last year, 2005,
the bottle was won by Guy Thompson (1935-1939).
